About Susan Sonne
As a longtime resident of the Buena Park Council District 3, Susan has always been a strong voice for our community.
Susan, her husband Paul, and daughter Angelika reside in Buena Park's Santa Tract. Susan loves that each year during the holidays, her neighbors make an effort to get everyone to have a Santa displayed in their front yard. Susan also participates and enjoys the annual Love Buena Park, Concerts in the Park, Silverado Days at Peak Park, Knott's Scary Farm, floating down the lazy river at Soak City, and trying out the many wonderful restaurants and entertainment venues nearby.
Susan had a 40-year career in IT, starting as a programmer and taking on more and more challenges as she worked her way into management. As a leader in her company, she sought consensus from multiple points of view to solve ever-increasing business demands.
Since December 2020, Susan has been honored to serve the residents of District 3, frequently going out to various neighborhoods to listen to the issues and concerns and seek solutions that work for everyone. In addition to the serious issues of addressing crime and climate concerns, supporting small businesses and reinvigorating the Entertainment Corridor, improving parks and open spaces, and supporting new housing developments that will allow our children to stay close and the people who serve us in local businesses to be members of our community, Susan has enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate and congratulate residents whose accomplishments and successes deserve it - from college degrees to anniversaries of long-serving businesses. Buena Park is filled with amazing residents and Susan loves to make sure people are appreciated for all they do.
Before serving on City Council, Susan was a city commissioner and former Chair of the Beautification-Environmental Commission. On the Commission, she focused on bringing environmental awareness and education, and advocating for growing our city's urban forest - more trees, please!
As the Executive Director of the Buena Park Collaborative and a volunteer at the Buena Park Community Resource Center, Susan had many opportunities to identify and find solutions for the critical needs in our city. She is focused on the organization's mission: to enhance partnerships which support a safe and healthy community for all Buena Park. She is energized by inter-agency collaborations in order to best serve the needs of residents.
Learning is her passion, and with a quickly-changing world, she knows you have to learn fast to understand and be able to respond to challenges. We cannot solve the issues of today with ideas from yesterday. She also knows that working together is the key to being successful. When elected, she will always welcome her neighbors' input.
Susan would love to connect with you, and she is happy to answer any questions you might have. Email Susan directly at [email protected] or call her on her personal cell phone at 714-336-6142.
